Jenny is a Senior Psychotherapist, Jungian Analyst and Psychological Adviser to the Arts.
Jenny initially trained at the London School of Economics as a social worker. She first worked with disabled children, following which she was a psychiatric social worker with adult patients at the Royal Free Hospital for nine years. During this time she trained as a Jungian Analyst and Psychotherapist. She has since worked as a Senior Consultant to the Civil Service (mainly working with the Ministry of Defence, Foreign and Commonwealth Office and Northern Ireland Office). Jenny travelled extensively with this work to countries including India, Kenya, Abu Dhabi, USA and Europe.
Jenny also has her own private practice where she deals with a variety of issues, both long and short term, using psychoanalytic and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). She also supervises a project for young offenders who leave prison to work in catering.
She has lectured widely for the Civil Service on such subjects as Stress Management, Loss, PTSD, etc. and has written various in-house papers including The Influence of Childhood on Adult Relationships, Adolescence and Bereavement.
Jenny's former position as Chair of the Publicity Committee for the British Association of Psychotherapists (now the British Psychotherapy Foundation) led to her becoming an ad hoc adviser to Dr Thomas Stuttaford of The Times on mental health issues.
Since that time Jenny has also specialised in advising actors, with particular reference to unconscious processes, on film or stage roles. For example, she advised the cast of Medea at The Oliver, National Theatre. Another aspect of her work is to advise on paintings. Together with Professor Jamie Hacker Hughes, she wrote a chapter for the exhibition of Stanley Spencer's paintings at Somerset House. [For further details on Jenny's work, please see: Projects]
Jenny also gives talks on a variety of psychological subjects to clients such as law firms and charities.
Jenny visits the theatre and art exhibitions regularly. She enjoys the fact she can bring her interest in the Arts together with her psychotherapeutic skills, by providing psychological advice to the Creative Arts.
